Mountain View Healthcare Center, a leading provider of Skilled Nursing Services located in Santa Clara County, CA, is presently seeking an experienced full-time Director of Staff Development to join the team.

The primary responsibilities of the DSD, is to plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational programs throughout the facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

Responsibilities:

* Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate educational and on-the-job training programs.

* Incorporate commercially produced instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as deemed necessary.

* Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs of this facility.

* Develop, evaluate and control the quality of in-service educational programs in accordance with established policies and procedures.

* Secure, develop and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc., pertinent to in-service educational programs.

* Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class attendance and subject records, etc.

* Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the administrator concerning in-service training programs.

Requirements

  • Must possess a nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing)
  • Must be currently licensed/registered in State of California. Must maintain an active RN or LVN license in good standing throughout employment.
  • One (1) year geriatric nursing experience preferred
  • Teaching/education experience preferred
  • Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Must have the desire and ability to effectively train and educate all nursing associates and other associates as applicable
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: training,, nursing administration,, clinical skills,, functions of nursing care of the patients, patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Position responsible for Infection prevention and infection control programs.
